About Us
Two Artsy Ladies and a Guinea Pig

Our Passion, Our Purpose

We have a deep passion for the creative arts, as well as for teaching children. It only seemed natural to us that we make a fun place where kids can create while expanding their understanding of different art forms!
Katy Hammond McDonald
Owner, founder, mother, teacher, dreamer, sister, creative spirit.

The younger sister of Cristy (by 11 years!), I grew up fascinated with art and always valued my time painting, drawing, dancing, singing, sculpting, and writing over most other childhood activities. Through the years, my love for artistic expression continued to grow, as well as my natural instinct to teach. I received my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2004 from Stephens College, and taught at the on-campus laboratory school on Stephens campus for several years, before opening the Studio in the fall of 2009.

(Katy's newest endeavor is being a Mommy, and she is adjusting to motherhood just as gracefully as she adjusted to pregnancy. Kinda makes her big sister a little sick; but I love her anyway.)
Cristy Hammond Lillig
Cooperative big sister, mother, dreamer, pack-rat of all things artistic, also a creative spirit.

The older sister of Katy (by 11 years!), I spent many of those "only child" years raiding our mother's craft things to create everything from doll house furniture to carnivals in the backyard. Before the age of 6, our grandmother taught me the art of blending colors together by smudging, and how to deal with too much water in your watercolors. The Raiding of our mother's craft supplies continues; but now the things I create are most likely for my equally creatively spirited children. I graduated from Missouri State University (SMSU, back in the day) in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Middle School Education, and was just about a semester shy of having Early Childhood wrapped up, too.
Sgt. Pepper
Resident Mascot

"Sgt. Pepper", "Pepper", "Pep", "Sarge", or as one of our favorite young artists named him "Secret Agent Pepper" is an Abyssinian Guinea Pig. He loves ice cubes, carrots, apples (peeled, please), and watermelon. Pep is an extremely active little guy that thrives on attention, and will let you know if he isn't getting enough. Since he is technically a rodent, he chews on everything he can to keep his teeth worn down. If he didn't, they'd grow waaay long, and he'd look like a saber toothed fur ball! Because of this, we do ask all of his kid friends to watch your fingers. They look a lot like baby carrots. And as we've already stated, he loves carrots!
