Last fall, we made the leap and became a Partner in Education with Russell Elementary. As trained educators, we understand the need to support our public school system, and given what we do, becoming a PIE was so logical!

Through PIE, we have participated in the Fall Festival, JA Biz Town, Russell U, and provided a School-Wide Celebration last spring.

We are in the process of working with the school in providing a "Wearable Art" room in Russell's upcoming Celebration of the Arts, participating in Russell U, and are also collaborating with Dr. Schumacher to provide a night of Creative Recycling using the recyclables the students have been collecting as a part of our project "Russell Recycles".

We are thrilled to be partnered with Russell Elementary, it's faculty, and it's incredible students!

Raven Rewards is a NEW program started in the 2011-2012 school year to encourage and reward students for their personal and academic achievements by recognition from their teachers and the staff of Russell Elementary.

Each month, each teacher, nominates a student for the award. On the last day of that month, during each of the grades lunch time, we come and announce the nominees and why they were nominated. Each nominee receives a special Raven Rewards certificate that is sent home with them at the end of the day. The nominees for each grade have their names placed in a jar, and one name is pulled as the recipient of a FREE hoour of Creativity Time at our Studio. This reward can be redeemed during our Open Studio time, or as a $10.00 credit towards any of our other services. Photos of the month's nominees will be displayed on the bulletin board outside the school gymnasium.

Russell Recycling Challenge is also a new program in the 2011-2012 school year! Each month, we will be posing a new collection challenge to the students of Russell. It could be tissue boxes, empty water bottles, toilet paper tubes, or plastic lids. At the beginning of the month, we will announce what the new challenge is during the Morning Message. Students then keep an eye out for these recyclables that can be deposited in the Russell Recycling Challenge box located just inside the main doors by the office.

No items will require students to purchase anything. Everything collected must be something that might otherwise be thrown away. Although students may collect and contribute items from home, the emphasis will be on collecting items from around the school.

We hope that this activity will heighten students awareness of reusable materials in their daily environment, and encourage creativity and ingenuity in recycling.

Each month we will post on this webpage what the recyclable for the month is.
